ORDIP 023: TRIANGULATED 4 LINKS DETAILS, SHOCK PLACEMENT, ROD END MOVEMENT, AND GAS BUMP STOPS
John Cappa and I have covered so many suspension topics as of this point, but we lacked the 4 link conversation. So, here it is. We talk about straight link 4 links, triangulated 4 links, and double triangulated 4 links.
We talk a bit more about rod ends, flex joints, and bushings, talking about the needed movement required for them to work appropriately. Well, John talks about it, and I learn something new. Actually, a few things.
Shock placement, angle, and gas bump-stops are also on the menu. Plus, we get into a little on potential binding issues, and how to tell when you may be over building your suspension capabilities for your rig.
So, hang in there, this will round out our suspension series with John Cappa on Off-Road Independence Podcast. Hope you guys enjoy it.
John also really suggests that you read the book Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams if you want to understand the geometry and function of the suspensions that we love to design so much for our off-road vehicles.
